Today's post is going to be dedicated to amateurs of William Shakespeare's masterpiece and/or those in love because we'll follow tracks of two the most famous romantic lovers. The tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet has been attracting hordes of tourists to Verona for centuries. Among them, there are lucky couples who padlocked their eternal love on the gate, and engraved their names on the wall. Women rash to see the site of the memorable balcony scene. Men seem to be far more interested in Juliet herself and her breasts. It's said that touching her breast brings you good luck, but to me it's just a male pitiful excuse...

Dziś będzie coś specjalnie dla zakochanych (i) miłośników twórczości Williama Szekspira, bo pójdziemy śladami jego romantycznych kochanków. Nieszczęśliwa historia miłosna Romea i Julii od XVI wieku przyciąga do Werony tłumy turystów. Są wśród nich rzesze szczęśliwców, którzy przybyli tu ze swoją drugą połówką, a swoją miłość zamknęli na kłódkę, a swoje inicjały wyryli na murze. Kobiety pędzą pod słynny balkon , by zobaczyć, gdzież to Romeo wyznawał swą miłość. Mężczyźni natomiast cieszą się widokiem Julii i jej biustu. Wieść niesie, że dotknięcie jej piersi przynosi szczęście w miłość, ale ja uważam, że to tylko mało kreatywna męska wymówka…

Biust jakoś mocno wpisał się w to miasto, jako że Intimissimi (popularna marka bieliźniarska) ma swoją siedzibę właśnie tutaj.

The city itself is an intriguing mixture of the antiquity,Middle Ages, Renaissance until the modern times. In the city centre, on the Piazza Bra, we can see an amphitheatre from the 1 century AD, a medieval gate Portoni del Bra and neoclassical Palazzo Fran Guardia. You can take a seat in one of endless rows of cafes, restaurants and bars that line the main square.

Samo miasto to wyskokowa mieszanka historii -starożytności, średniowiecza, renesansu aż do współczesności. I tak, w samym centrum miasta, na Piazza Bra, możemy znaleźć amfiteatr z I wieku naszej ery, średniowieczną bramę Portoni del Bra oraz neoklasycystyczny Palazzo Gran Guardia. Wokół skwerku ciągną się restauracje i kafejki.

Piazza delle Erbe

Soon after dinner we stretched our legs and ran half marathon around the city. We visited Piazza delle Erbe, the Scaligeri tombs and roamed around the Old Town stopping at various sites to take some pics. We got over the bridge to the left bank of the Adige then back again to the right one until our destination emerged on the horizon - Castel Vecchio.

Po obiedzie, rozprostowaliśmy nogi i urządziliśmy sobie maraton po mieście. Zwiedziliśmy Piazza delle Erbe, grobowce Scaligerich, Piazza dei Signori pałętając się po zaułkach starego miasta i przystając na chwilę by zrobić kilka zdjęć. Następnie, przechodząc mostami raz na prawy raz na lewy brzeg Adygi dotarliśmy do mostu Castel Vecchio.
